The Charge for Stripe app is free to download from Google Play or the Apple App Store and there are no setup fees, monthly fees, minimum amounts or subscription fees.
Do your apps support SCA (Strong Customer Authentication)?

Do you support card readers? How about NFC?
Charge for Stripe supports NFC (only on Android devices*) and we believe this is the most convenient way to capture card details for processing charges. Tapping the customer’s card to the back of your device will make the card number and expiry appear in the app so you simply enter the CCV number and the amount (and e-mail address if you want to send a receipt) and click “Charge Card” and it’s done. What is terminal mode?
Terminal mode was developed as a result of user input and works to allow account holders to limit access to users. What is a ‘Pre-authorized payment’ ?
Pre-authorized payments allow users to put a hold on a credit card for a certain amount, without actually processing the payment, just like hotels and hire car operators do. After completing a pre-authorized payment, you have 7 days to process or cancel the payment, otherwise it will automatically be cancelled after 7 days. Can I do a test to see if it works, just to be sure?
You sure can! Go into the “Settings” screen and turn on “Test Mode” – after doing so, you will see a noticeable “TEST MODE” indicator displayed at the top of all screens. How can I issue a refund?
Refunds can be processed within Charge for Stripe by selecting the payment you would like to refund and selecting the ‘Refund’ button and confirming you would like to refund that payment. Yes you can! And you can process payments across multiple devices simultaneously as well! Login with your Stripe account credentials on as many devices as you like (Android and iOS) and you will be able to process payments on all of them.
Is your app available in my country?
Stripe is currently (as of August 2019) available in 34 countries as listed at https://stripe.com/global and Charge for Stripe is available for download on Google Play and the App Store in all of these countries. I tried to process a payment and it failed - why?
If you have attempted to process a payment and it fails to go through, you should see a message with details about why the payment failed. e.g. Insufficient funds or incorrect CVC number. If you would like to go back to find out why a payment failed, you will need to login to your Stripe Dashboard (on a computer, not in Charge for Stripe) and go to the 'Payments' section to locate the payment in question, select it and you will then be able to see the reason the payment was rejected. What is the upgrade/premium version?
This upgrade allows users to manage multiple Stripe accounts within Charge for Stripe. Purchasing the upgrade once will unlock this functionality permanently and additional Stripe accounts can then be added and payments can be processed to any of your Stripe accounts, plus you can also receive notifications for any or all of your Stripe accounts.
The app says I need to login with an admin account – why?
Stripe requires users connecting with third-party apps like Charge for Stripe to do so with an admin account, so if you’ve logged in with an account that doesn’t have admin access, please tap ‘Switch account’ and login with an account that has admin privileges.
There's another app with a similar name - what's going on?
There is another app that includes the word "Charge" in its name and many people get confused. Why are notifications no longer working?
Sometimes notifications may stop working due to updating your device software, so if you’ve checked that notifications are switched on within the Charge for Stripe app settings and also within your device settings (e.g. Settings->Notifications), please uninstall the app and then reinstall it from Google Play/App Store which should reset the connection to the notification server. Why does the dashboard screen show a different currency to the one I’ve selected?
Charge for Stripe allows users to accept payments in LOTS of different currencies by selecting from the list of currencies displayed in the settings section. HOWEVER, the dashboard screen will display values in the default currency of your Stripe account. For example, if your Stripe account is registered in Australia, AUD will be your default currency and the chart will show values in AUD. How do I activate fingerprint authentication?
Go to the Settings section and scroll down to the ‘Lock’ section and switch “Use Fingerprint” to the on position. You can switch between PIN or fingerprint authentication by toggling these switches on or off, but one will always be selected as this is essential for security purposes.
How do app shortcuts work?
On Android, app shortcuts make it easy to do exactly what you want to do, quicker. Long-pressing the Charge for Stripe icon will display shortcuts for the different payment options available which you can either tap, or you can long-press and drag them to your device home screen to make the shortcut accessible whenever you want it. Now a single tap can take you directly to the payment screen to process whatever type of payment you want
I forgot my PIN code – how can I get back into the app?
If you have forgotten your pin, unfortunately you will need to reset the app and start again with the setup process. Rest assured none of your data will have been lost, but you will need to re-setup your accounts in the app. While we understand this is an inconvenience and will take a few minutes to resolve, we believe this is a better option than allowing the code to be reset on the device which would potentially open up access to your Stripe account by someone who may have stolen your phone.

How can I change my PIN code?
Go to the ‘Settings’ section and scroll down to the ‘Security’ section and select ‘Change PIN” and follow the steps to complete the process. However, we recommend using fingerprint authentication (if your device supports it) as this is a more secure method and means you won’t have to complete the setup process again if you forget your PIN code.
I get an “Expired API Key Error” when trying to use the app

No. Charge for Stripe is built specifically for Stripe, so if you don’t already have an account setup, you can find out more about setting up an account on the Stripe website here.
How can I completely reset the app to start setup again?
Sometimes things get a little weird if you update the software on your phone or change your Stripe account to activate 2FA or something else random happens and it's necessary to completely reset the app and go through the setup process again. If that happens, here are the steps to follow to hopefully get you up and running again quickly.
