How can I send a payment request?

The Payment Request functionality was one of our most-requested features and we’re excited to finally be releasing it. Here’s how to use it:

Tap the + icon and select ‘Request Payment’

Enter the amount, description and either an email address or mobile phone number and tap the ‘Send Payment Request’ button. Emails will be sent automatically, while entering a mobile phone number and then tapping the 'Send Payment Request' button will allow you to select whichever app you would like to share the payment request to. e.g. WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype. If you have entered a mobile phone number and choose to send via a messaging app, be sure to complete the process by selecting the desired messaging app and choosing the person you want to send the Payment Request to, and then tap send, otherwise it will not be sent to them.

Your customer will then receive the request with the details of the payment you have requested. The payment request will be displayed in your list of payments as ‘Pending’ until your customer either provides their payment credentials to complete the payment (it’ll then change to ‘Charged’) or selects ‘Cancel’ (it’ll then display as ‘Cancelled), or the payment request will automatically be cancelled after 7 days if payment is not processed or cancelled before then.

If you would like to cancel a payment request, select the payment to view the payment details and then tap ‘Cancel Payment Request’. This will cancel the request immediately. If the user clicks on the link provided in the sms or email after the request has been cancelled, they will be advised the payment request is no longer valid.

If you need to edit the contact details (phone or email), tap the payment request and select 'Edit' from the menu in the top right corner to edit the details. Then tap on the 'Send Reminder' button to send a new SMS or email to the customer.

Note: If you would like to send a payment request in a different currency, simply change the currency dropdown on the Payment Request screen to the desired currency before sending the payment request.
